Yellow peas are a niche crop in the UK, mainly grown for splitting which then have a variety of end uses
They are well suited to farmers as well, as they have no risk of bleaching during the growing and harvest period.
Whole yellow peas are traditionally used for soups, stew and casseroles and consumed across Europe.
Many thousands of tonnes of whole yellow peas are exported to India from Canada as Canada has the facility to mass produce the product. Due to the relative size of the UK crop, unfortunately this market is not economically viable for us to compete in.
